Holding Period

Dogs and Cats brought to the shelter are held for a stautory holding period of 7 days if unidentified and 14 days if they have either a microchip or tag.

Once the holding period has elapsed, the animal ownership is automatically transfered to the Animal Shelter under the authority of the Companion Animals Act. The shelter then has the responsibility to rehome it wherever possible.

All penalties and cost's incurred in housing the animal remain payable by the former owner.

If you are the owner of one of these animals, you need to contact the shelter on 67715498 to arrange for it's release to you urgently.

This female Kelpie / Cattledog type mixed breed dog was found in Westview Rd, Armidale. Just off Bundarra Rd. She is around 18 months old. No microchip found and not wearing a tag.

464 - Fox Terrier type mixed breed - female

This tri coloured female Foxy type mix is around 7 months old. She was found in Niagara St, Armidale. No microchip found and not wearing a tag.

458 - terrier type mixed breed - male

This 1 year old, white, male, Terrier type mixed breed dog was found at the Creeklands, Armidale site during New England Expo. Attempts to contact microchipped owner unsuccessful. No tag present.
